The presence of becoming a DJ is sometimes ignored in the music scene, but this is not always the situation when the DJ decides to step up. After the release of the new track “Closer” there were speculations whether or not it’ll be a huge hit. Alex Pall and rest of the group have listened to different genres. It is helpful to them since they can easily adapt and be more creative. During the interview, Pall mentioned that it started out as a hobby or side job then became his ultimate passion. At that time, he had a day job and also working as a DJ with his manager. Then, he was introduced to a guy named Andrew Taggart, and Alex Pall decided to go full-time to pursue his passion for music. As a group, the Chainsmokers have listened to indie, pop, dance music and hip-hop just to name a few. People can say that these are their influences, but listening to their music seems like the group already created a distinct identity. As a DJ himself, Pall sings with the group and music isn’t just staying in the booth while you do your thing.
Songwriting is also their game
According to Pall, many artists today rely too much on their performances as singers but they don’t even try writing their own songs so to speak. The group’s success is mainly based on their stage performances, media appearances and songwriting capabilities. If they can’t write all their songs, some of them can actually help songwriters to fill the gap. It is really impressive that Pall and the group are somewhat hands-on when it comes to the release of the album or anything related to their music.
Alex Pall added that their popularity as a group can also be seen on social media specifically on Instagram. They received positive comments from people who liked their type of music. He added that when there is an increasing popularity, the group must work on producing more music for the benefit of the listeners. As we all know, music evolves and it’s the same thing with technology.
The Chainsmokers has still a long way to go and music creativity is the best way to have more and more listeners.
